What We Do
In addition to regular troop meetings, the troop plans many exciting events throughout the year. Events range from regular campouts and day-hikes to high-adventure activities like multi-day backpacking trips. We look for fun and engaging activities to take part in throughout the program year.
Troop meetings
Our regular troop meetings are the heartbeat of our program. They give us time to celebrate achievements, learn and practice new skills, and enjoy fellowship as a troop. These meetings are where Trailmen get to know how the troop operates, build friendships, and prepare for upcoming outings.
Regular meetings are held during the school year (September through May). Boys are grouped into patrols by age and take part in age-appropriate activities designed to help them grow and earn achievements.
Trailmen should come to each meeting prepared with their troop uniform and handbook. Parents are always welcome and encouraged to join in, support activities, and share in the experience.
Adventures
Outside of troop meetings, the troop plans as many outdoor adventures as possible throughout the program year, with at least special event per month. Some example activities include:
- Hiking
- Biking
- Kayaking and canoeing
- Shooting sports
- Paintball and airsoft
- Ropes and obstacle courses
Campouts and High Adventure
During weekend campouts, Trailmen engage in a variety of outdoor activities and wilderness adventures. They take part in team-building exercises, learn survival skills, practice outdoor cooking, and learn about nature. Spiritual growth and character development activities are integrated through devotions, Bible studies, and reflection on God’s creation.
The troop tries to schedule at least one high-adventure activity per year. These are typically multi-day events such as backpacking, rock-climbing, rafting, or extended trips.
