Boxes can be returned at our Troop meeting on November 16th, or to a nearby drop-off center up until November 20th. You can find drop-off locations here: Shoebox Drop Off Locations (samaritanspurse.org)
We are excited to announce our participation in the wonderful charity event, Operation Christmas Child! This heartwarming initiative ensures that children in need around the world receive a special gift during the Christmas season.
- Box and Label Pickup: Boxes for packing can be collected during our next two troop meetings on 10/19 and 11/2. Grab a label at the same time.
- Box Return: Filled boxes must be returned at our troop meeting on November 16th. This is crucial to ensure that the gifts reach their destination on time.
- Choose an age range: The boxes can be for a boy or girl in the age categories of 2-4, 5-9, or 10-14.
- Gift Ideas: Include fun toys, school supplies, hygiene items, and notes of encouragement.
- Avoid: Used or damaged items, war-related toys (like toy guns, knives), seeds, food, liquids or lotions, medications or vitamins, breakable items, or aerosol cans.
- Personal Touch: Consider adding a personal note and a photo, if you’re comfortable. It’s a great way for the child to see who their gift came from!
Why It Matters:
Participating in Operation Christmas Child is not just about giving a gift; it’s about sharing the gospel and sending a message of love and hope to children in need. Every shoebox is a powerful tool for evangelism, discipleship, and multiplication, introducing children to a lifelong relationship with Jesus Christ.
How Can You Help?:
- Pack a box (or multiple!) and return it by November 16th.
- Volunteer during the collection or shipping processes.
- Donate towards the shipping fees. Each box costs $10 to ship. Donations can be made directly on the Operation Christmas Child website or given during our troop meetings.
Let’s come together as a troop and make this year’s Operation Christmas Child a memorable one. Every box packed is a step towards brightening a child’s holiday and making a global difference!
